Phlebotomy - Nurse

We are looking for Phlebotomist (Registered Nurse Only) for Al Ail, UAE.
Responsibilities:
Identifies correct out-patients of all ages by requesting the patient to state his / her full name and comparing that with the name on the requisition
 Draws blood properly using established laboratory procedures ( i.e., proper patient identification, proper
tube selection, etc.)
 Verifies and collects proper samples required for specific tests
 Perform a variety of routine blood drawing procedures to include venipuncture techniques using standard equipment to include vacutainer tubes and sleeves, tourniquets, syringes and butterfly needles.
 Initials, dates and records time blood, urine or culture collected on all laboratory requisition forms
 Labels specimens (patient’s name, medical record number, initials date and time collected)
 Logs all patient and specimen collection records in the respective Phlebotomy Log
 Maintains awareness of timed specimen’s collection and their importance and attempts to collect these specimens at appropriate time (i.e., Glucose, Drugs, Blood Cultures, Hemograms, etc..)
 Instructs out-patients of all ages, in the correct way to collect urine specimens (i.e., for C&S;, GTT’s,
etc.)
 Correctly processes all lab requisitions, forms, and specimens
 Enforces and follows all laboratory safety rules and reports any possible hazards
 Keeps the Phlebotomy areas neat, clean and well stocked with supplies
 Keeps blood drawing trays neat, clean and well supplies
 Maintains an adequate supply of specimen collection equipment, (i.e., routine, special test and reference test needs)
 Correctly processes all incoming laboratory supplies
 Follows hospital or clinic policy with regard to “Universal Precautions”
 Refers to appropriate policy and procedure manuals as necessary and communicates with reference labs for proper specimen requirements
 Can perform all tasks assigned to the Phlebotomist
 Greets patients in a courteous manner, responds to patients with empathy and positive interpersonal skills.
 Continuously works at establishing a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all coworkers
 Demonstrates competence in all procedures required of a phlebotomist in accordance with institutional policies; with particular emphasis on blood samples, blood cultures, referral tests and specimen requirements
 Is neat in appearance, always observing the dress code
Skills Required:
Possesses broad base of clinical knowledge including physiology, pharmacology and medical theories needed for effective critical thinking, clinical judgement and decision making.
 Withholds clinical experience enabling a better clinical judgment and better specialty expertise.
 Demonstrates knowledge of legal and ethical issues needed to identify ethical issues correctly,understand their implications and make ethical decisions.
 Demonstrates good communication skills for every clinical interaction, assessment and intervention.
 Demonstrates knowledge of clinical pathways.
 Demonstrates ability to understand diversity and deal with differences.
 Demonstrates ability to educate patients and families.
